About Us

MYndworks is a partnership between Robin Middleton and Kaye Young, who have more than 60 years of combined experience in higher education. MYndworks offers educational games, consulting services, and products that help students become more responsible, engaged, and therefore, successful learners.

Robin Middleton is a facilitator for On Course workshops. “As a professor and counselor in the Counseling and Career Development Center at Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, NY, I worked with students as they navigated the complex world of higher education. Using Skip Downing’s On Course text and principles, it became clear that student success was dependent on students seeing themselves as responsible, motivated learners willing to work interdependently to achieve lifelong learning. My experience as a facilitator for On Course Workshops across the country has strengthened my belief that we need to find new and relevant ways to engage students in the learning process. Research clearly indicates that hand-on learning via games, is an excellent way to do so.”

Kaye Young is a professor and the coordinator of the Student Learning Center at Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, NY. “My focus is on helping students discover their strengths as learners and identify strategies to overcome learning challenges. In the college’s freshman seminar course, I use On Course ideas/principles to help students become more active, responsible learners. In addition, I have facilitated faculty and staff training sessions on techniques to engage students in the learning process leading to improved student success and retention.”

Both Kaye and Robin are On Course Ambassadors having attended On Course I and II workshops, and present at the National On Course conferences. Together they created the Faculty Idea Exchange at Jamestown Community College, underscoring the importance of using learner centered strategies to help students become more responsible, active learners. They have also developed and implemented a series of workshops for frontline staff based on the On Course principles. Both have received the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, as well as the Jamestown Community College President’s Award and Faculty Award for Excellence. Kaye and Robin have also facilitated workshops at Chautauqua Institution on making games to enhance learning outcomes and social interactions.
